What Do Turtles Eat?
adsTurtles are cold blooded creatures. They fall under the category of reptiles. There are basically three types of turtles, herbivores, omnivores and carnivores. Thus, before planning a meal for turtles you must know that what kind of turtle you have come across. There are many species of turtle and depending on that they have eating habits.

But from the above description it is clear that turtles love natural foods. And if you want them to stay happy and fit then you must feed them with natural foods. It is important to note that you must feed your turtle with a diet that is rich in calcium. Turtles get enough of phosphorus from the food they eat. What they must have more is calcium. Some of the calcium rich foods for turtle include egg shells, plaster block etc. While you are concentrating on improving the turtle’s intake of calcium also consider vitamin D3 as the most important nutrient. This is because only with vitamin D3 there will be appropriate absorption of calcium in the body.
Do not give too much protein to your turtle or else it will pose the threat on its kidneys. High protein foods of your dog must not be shared with your turtle. If your turtle is omnivorous then you won’t have much problem in feeding it as there is whole lot of variety which you can consider. It includes boiled eggs, leafy vegetables. Slugs, snails, grape leaves, lettuce, rose, banana, borage and mangoes.
Avoid giving milk products like cheese and yogurt. Also keep it away from processed and canned foods.
